WOW!!!

I did it. I really, really did it. It has been 365 days since I last ate candy, and tomorrow the first thing I treat myself to will be this:
It's the coconut member of the Ferrero Rocher trio, and in my opinion it is by far the best. I know everyone goes ga-ga over this traditional hazelnut version:
but to me, the coconut is where it's at.

My sister loved teasing me about my "letter of the law" adherence, and how I bypassed the spirit of the law. I didn't limit out all sweets, just candy specifically. So, I had no problems eating a chocolate chip cookie. But take the chip in that cookie, enlarge it, and wrap it in tinfoil so it looks like this:
and suddenly it's off limits. Part of my point was that I hardly ever make cookies, cakes, etc. but I buy candy all the time, so this was a test to see how strong my willpower is. I've got to say, I'm pretty impressed with myself. I have another test in mind for 2010, but I'm not going to share what it is until I've given it a try, plus I'm not done working out all the specifics. Looking at it from the starting line (ie, tomorrow!) I personally think that it's harder than this year's goal has been. We'll see.

On to more interesting things...who's decided whether or not you're going to say "Twenty Ten" or "Two Thousand Ten"? I'm completely undecided. I have to make up my mind soon because as of tomorrow I'll be forced to say one or the other. These are the kinds of dilemmas plaguing my mind. Pretty rough life, huh?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

12.5%

Why do I love that number so much? Because 12.5% is exactly 1/8, which is exactly how much pharmacy school I have completed!!! I cannot believe the first semester went by so quickly! I am amazed. It was harder than I thought, easier than I thought, funner than I thought, more boring than I thought, more time consuming than I thought, less demanding than I thought...it pretty much exceeded all my expectations. I LOVED IT! I have seen many haggard second and third-year students around campus this week, so it must only get worse, but doesn't that have a lot to do with your attitude? We'll see how that theory pans out in another year. :)

Here is what I did yesterday:
  • slept in
  • laid on the couch all morning
  • watched youtube clips of "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives"
  • ate lunch
  • took a nap
  • woke up and watched more clips of the Triple D
Ok, I wasn't totally lazy. I did straighten up a little so that if anyone popped in they wouldn't see me lying around in squalor. But, I didn't shower, I didn't get dressed in real clothes, I didn't brush my hair until Evan called to say he was on his way home (I can't have him thinking I'm a total slob, can I?)... I didn't even get the mail because it was too much work to look decent enough to go outside. I loved my first day of Christmas break.

So what should I do with the rest of my time? Any suggestions?

P.S. For the Utah hot spots featured on DDD, check out these clips of Ruth's, Moochie's, Red Iguana, Burger Bar, Pat's BBQ, Blue Plate, and Lone Star. Collectively, this is about 45 minutes of TV, so enjoy them all when you have some spare time, which for pretty much everyone except me, won't be until after the New Year.

P.P.S. And just because I know you're all so interested, I've eaten at Red Iguana, Pat's, and Blue Plate. They're all fabulous. Although, I had to give Red Iguana several tries because I don't like mole, but it's one of Evan's favorites restaurants so I plowed through. I've found the Chile Colorado platter that I love, but I'm for sure trying those tacos that they talked about in the clip
the next time we go. Maybe some of my time this break should be spent trying out the other restaurants. Anyone want to meet me for lunch?
