What to do...

At the beginning of the year I decided to see how long I could go without eating candy. I'm not strong enough, mind you, to cut out all refined sugars so I've still had my fair share of cake, ice cream, cookies, brownies, popsicles (LOTS of popsicles this week), etc. I know, sounds pointless, right? Why even bother if I can still eat all those other treats? Because I don't buy those other treats like I used to buy candy-candy at my desk, candy in my backpack, candy in my car, candy in the pantry, candy in the freezer (mmmm...frozen Junior Mints)...you get the idea. I used to have some sort of candy AT LEAST once a day. I am a candy addict. I'm not kidding when I say that I dreamt every night for the first four weeks that I had eaten candy. It's true.

Well, for whatever reason, this week has been a toughie for me. I haven't even set a timeline, like, "I cannot eat candy for a whole year!" so I don't know what the big deal would be if I did give in and eat some candy, other than I just want to see how long I can last. I lack total self-discipline, and have a completely addictive personality, so I want to see if my will-power is strong enough. But as I'm writing this, I remember why I cut out candy. I used to have these huge sugar highs followed by even huger crashes. (I can't believe spell-check thinks huger is a word!) I also used to get pretty bad sugar headaches. Yeah, yeah, that's why I did this! For my health!

See, the whole reason I started this post is because my coworker is munching on a bag of Red Vines, and I've been DYING to eat one-that's especially big if you know how much I don't like Red Vines...I'm a Twizzler girl. However, just in the short time it took to write this post, I've remembered why I'm choosing to abstain from candy. Wow, that's pretty cool, wouldn't you say? I don't even want a Red Vine anymore! I'll be totally fine just having a popsicle when I get home from work. ;)

From one candy addict to another, it sounds like you do have have what it takes to abstain. Stay strong!

It may not seem like a lot but it sure is a lot of unnecessary sugar. You have inspired me to stay away from candy for a while. (Now that easter is over and Halloween is far away I think I can do it.)

First of all...Twizzlers! Common', red vines is totally where it's at!
Secondly...you are a brave soul. I can't go without candy either. (just ask Mark, he's alraedy worried for my future health). I wish I had the will power to substain from candy.
