When I was really little-probably about 4 or 5, we had an older couple that lived next door, Mr. and Mrs. Bird. I used to pick up their paper (from their front porch) and "deliver" it to them. They always gave me 2 Starbursts as payment, and I remember loving it if I got a red and a pink one, and hating it if I got an orange or yellow one. I also remember being mad when my mom finally told me I was too old to bother them for candy!

They probably loved getting a visit from you every morning and seeing your cute smiling face when you got the candy.
oh my gosh i so love the pink ones and reds are 2nd best. so, i had a neighbor sue who i'd visit just for the candy. i remember getting the same lecture from my mom and trying to convince her i was just being a good neighbor and it wasn't for the candy. but then i felt guilty because it was sooo for the candy. but now i look back and think - so what? it was really a win-win. when i visit utah i'm going to visit her..... and hope for the pink!
